New Italy Student Visa Updates for 2025

Study in Italy – September 2025 Intake: Latest Visa & Consulate Updates

If you are planning to study in Italy for the September 2025 intake, there are several important updates you must know — especially related to student visa applications. Staying informed about these changes can save you from costly mistakes and unnecessary delays.

Every month, I compile the latest updates and share them so students have the most accurate and timely information. Here are the major updates for this month.

1. Major Update from the Bangalore Consulate – CBSE Students & DOV Applications

If your visa jurisdiction falls under the Bangalore Consulate and you have completed your education from a CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) school, you will not be allowed to apply for DOV (Declaration of Value) there.

Reason: CBSE is a central authority based in Delhi. Therefore:

  • CBSE students must apply for DOV through the Delhi Embassy.
  • You can still apply for your visa through the Bangalore Consulate after completing the DOV from Delhi.

Note: This rule applies only to CBSE students. If you studied under a state board or completed your graduation locally, you can apply for DOV and visa from Bangalore directly.

2. Faster Responses from Delhi Embassy

Good news for applicants under the Delhi Embassy jurisdiction: visa responses are now much faster.

  • Some visas have been approved in just 3–7 days.
  • This is significantly quicker than usual and shows that processing speed has improved.

3. Direct Visa Rejections in Bangalore

Previously, the Bangalore Consulate issued a pre-refusal notice, allowing you to submit additional documents before a final decision.
Now, they have moved to direct refusals — no prior warning.

  • If rejected, you must reapply from the beginning.
  • This makes it even more important to prepare your application correctly the first time.

4. Email ID Naming for Slot Booking

When booking a visa or DOV slot, your email ID must contain your name.

  • Applications with unrelated or random email IDs will not be accepted.
  • Best practice: use your personal email with your full name for official communication.

5. Enrollment Fee Requirement

You must now provide proof of enrollment fee payment during your visa application.

  • If your university allows payment only after arriving in Italy, request an official confirmation email from them and attach it to your application.
  • If payment is required upfront, submit the payment receipt.

6. Visa Slot Availability

  • Earliest slots: Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore — available within a week or even the next day.
  • Kolkata Consulate: Slots are slower to open and may start from September onwards due to a late start in their system.

7. Visa Interview Duration

Visa interviews are generally short, lasting 5 to 15 minutes.
Make sure you are well-prepared, with all required documents organized.

8. "One and the Same" Certificate Requirements

This certificate is needed if your name appears differently on different documents.

  • Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai: Get it signed by the Tehsildar and then by the Home Department.
  • Bangalore Consulate: Now requires SDM attestation plus apostille due to recent legal changes.

9. Guardianship for Minor Students

If you are under 18, you must have a legal guardian to apply for your visa.

10. Sponsor Rules

Only parents can act as your financial sponsors for a study visa. No exceptions.

Final Thoughts

These updates are crucial for anyone applying for an Italian student visa for September 2025. By following the latest rules and preparing in advance, you can avoid delays, refusals, and unnecessary stress.

I will continue sharing monthly updates to keep you informed. Stay tuned for the latest news on studying in Italy.
